WHAT FIELDS OF STUDY DOES THE MAGALIES WATER BURSARY COVER?
Magalies Water is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2027 academic year.
14 bursaries will be awarded as part of the companies youth development initiative, for studies within the following fields (2 bursaries per field):
- Biotechnology or Microbiology (Bachelors Degree/ Diploma NQF6)
- Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry (Bachelors Degree/ Diploma NQF6)
- Civil Engineering (Bachelors Degree/ Diploma NQF6/ N4-N6)
- Electrical Engineering (Bachelors Degree/ Diploma NQF6/ N4-N6)
- Information and Communication Technology (ICT) (Bachelors Degree)
- Mechanical Engineering (Bachelors Degree/ Diploma NQF6/ N4-N6)
- Water Care (Advance Diploma/ Diploma NQF6)

WHAT DOES MAGALIES WATER DO?
Magalies Water is a South African state-owned regional water utility that provides bulk water and sanitation services to municipalities, mines and industrial customers across parts of Gauteng, Limpopo and North West.
Established in 1969, the organisation was originally created to supply water to platinum mining operations in the Rustenburg and Thabazimbi areas. Today, Magalies Water supplies treated bulk water to municipalities and other large customers, playing an important role in supporting communities and economic activity.
The utility sources raw water from river systems linked to dams managed by the Department of Water and Sanitation (DWS). It then treats the water at its treatment plants to ensure it is suitable for consumption. Its main water resources are located within the Crocodile River and Pienaars River catchment areas.
