The SIOC Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2027 academic year.
Bursaries will be awarded for Undergraduate and Postgraduate studies in ANY field of study, for students residing in SIOC-CDT’s beneficiary communities (in the Northern Cape and Limpopo).
Note: students pursuing studies in other fields may also apply, however students pursuing studies in the fields above will receive preference.
The bursary will provide cover for the following expenses: registration and tuition fees, accommodation, prescribed study material, laptop and a monthly stipend. Students with disabilities will also receive assistive devices to enhance their learning.
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted and required to attend interview. If you have not received any feedback, please regard your application as unsuccessful.

The Sishen Iron Ore Company - Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) was established in 2006 to support the long-term social and economic development of communities located near Sishen Iron Ore Company (SIOC) operations. SIOC operates across several municipal areas in the Northern Cape, as well as in Limpopo.
Established by Sishen Iron Ore Company (SIOC) (Pty) Ltd, a subsidiary of Kumba Iron Ore, the Trust focuses on creating opportunities that can improve the lives and prospects of people in its beneficiary communities.
Through its education initiatives, SIOC-CDT provides bursary funding to deserving students from disadvantaged backgrounds, helping them pursue tertiary studies at universities and other recognised higher education institutions across South Africa. These bursaries form part of the Trust’s broader commitment to expanding access to education and developing skilled individuals who can contribute to the future of their communities.
