The George Municipality is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2027 academic year.
Bursaries will be awarded to students residing in George (Western Cape), for studies within the Municipal (local government sector) and related study fields. Preference will be given for studies within the following scarce skill fields:
- Building Control/ Inspection
- Civil Engineering (Roads/ Water Management)
- Electrical Engineering
- Electrician
- Environmental Management / Biodiversity
- Financial related study fields
- GIS & Land-use Management
- Information Technology
- Mechanical Engineering
- Plumber
- Renewable Energy Technologist
- Urban & Regional Planning
WHAT IS THE VALUE AND RENEWAL PROCESS FOR THE GEORGE MUNICIPALITY BURSARY?
The municipality may award full or partial bursaries.
Bursaries are awarded for one academic year at a time, and students must reapply for funding each year, which will be awarded based on bursary conditions.
Successful candidates will enter into a bursary agreement with the George Municipality.

- Parents or guardians proof of income (latest payslips if employed/ affidavit if unemployed/ death certificate if deceased) (certified copy)
- Parents or guardians statement outlining household monthly expenses
- Proof of residence in George (rates account/ utility bill/ proof of indigent household if applicable)
- Continuing students: last years academic records (certified copy)
