WHAT FIELDS OF STUDY DOES THE COJ BURSARY COVER?
The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is inviting students to apply for their bursary programme, for the 2027 academic year.
200 bursaries will be awarded to students residing in Johannesburg, for undergraduate studies within the following fields:
- Actuarial Science
- Built Environment (Architecture, Construction, Urban and Regional Planning, Quantity Surveying)
- Business Management
- Commerce
- Community Services
- Emergency Management Services
- Engineering (All Fields)
- Finance (Accounting, Auditing, Small Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Treasury, Economics, Risk and Compliance Management)
- Geo Information Science (GIS)
- Health (All Fields)
- Humanities and Social Sciences (All fields)
- Information Technology and Management (All Fields)
- International Relations and Protocol
- Legal
- Logistics

The City of Johannesburg (CoJ) is committed to providing training opportunities, by way of Financial Assistance (bursary funding) to youth residing in the Johannesburg community, in an effort to fulfil its socio-economic mandate.
WHAT EXPENSES DOES THE COJ BURSARY COVER?
The bursary will provide cover for the following expenses: registration fees, tuition fees, prescribed textbooks and/or study material (up to a maximum amount of R40 000 per year).
WHAT IS THE SELECTION AND RENEWAL PROCESS OF THE COJ BURSARY?
Students will be selected based strictly on academic merit.
Bursaries are awarded for 1 academic year at a time and can be renewed each year, based on satisfactory academic performance.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted within 6 weeks of the bursary closing date. If you do not receive any feedback by this date, please consider your application unsuccessful.
